KerGIS: The KerGIS Public Licence

Licence of the open source version

Please refer to the COPYRIGHT in the risk_comp source files for the copyrights of the tools, which are a distinct part of the project (used at compilation time but not used at runtime, and which distributes external software—but don't panic, all the parts developped by Thierry Laronde are under the KerGIS Public Licence, and the external software is the cweb set of programs created by Donald E. Knuth and Silvio Levy...).

With the exception of the THIRD PARTIES DEVELOPMENT, the BULK of this work is new contributions or mainly derivations from the public domain sources, version 4.1.5, of the GRASS software as published by the developers of USACERL — US Army Construction Engineering Research Laboratory.

The COPYRIGHTS are the following, first for the THIRD PARTIES, and last for the BULK WORK.

THIRD PARTIES DEVELOPMENT

The Projection Library (libproj4) has been developed by Gerald Evenden and is incorporated as is in this release.

The standard system fonts coming with KerGIS are _vectorial_ ones and have the following copyright (from share/fonts/README):

a particular form of the Hershey Fonts *are* troubling. HOWEVER: We have
been endlessly and repeatedly assured by NTIS that they do not care what
we do with our version of the font data, they do not want to know about it,
they understand that we are distributing this information all over the world,
etc etc etc... but because it isn't in their *exact* distribution format, they
just don't care!!! So go ahead and use the data with a clear conscience! (If
you feel bad about it, take a smaller deduction for something on your taxes
next week...)
